We have been asked to make you aware of a serious health issue at The Fieldgate Centre concerning the walking of dogs on the sports pitches.
During a home game on 14th December, 2024 one player had dog poo on his shirt after being tackled.
The following week a more serious incident occurred where a player was admitted to hospital with a serious infection on his leg and ended up being admitted for 12 days and being administered antibiotics via intravenous drip also for 12 days. The medics advised that a minor cut on his leg became infected after it came in contact with dog mess on the pitch. Although the infection has now cleared up the wound is still not completely healed.
Kingsclere residents and dog owners have a duty of care to their fellow citizens whilst out walking their pets. In order to prevent such an incident happening again we request that people do not walk their pets on any of the sports pitches at The Fieldgate Centre and always pick up any poo and dispose of it in the bins provided.
Update: Basingstoke Council have a page for Reporting dog fouling
